Recursive releases Flint, a coding model developed primarily by AI

The startup Recursive has announced the release of Flint, a coding model designed to run on laptop hardware. The company describes the launch as an early test of its research into AI systems capable of self-improvement.

According to Recursive, the Flint model was built largely by its own internal AI research system. The tool is currently available for free to users. By positioning the model as a laptop-sized assistant, the company aims to provide a practical demonstration of its proprietary AI development processes.

As an early-stage test, the project highlights ongoing industry interest in automating the model-building process itself, moving toward systems that can refine or develop new capabilities with minimal human intervention.
