A new report from Napier AI has highlighted the significant scale of financial crime in the United States, estimating that approximately $658.43 billion was lost to money laundering during the 2025 calendar year.
The figure represents 2.14% of the country’s total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the same period. This estimate underscores the persistent challenge posed by illicit financial flows within the American digital and traditional financial systems.
As digital payment ecosystems continue to evolve, the impact of money laundering remains a critical concern for regulators, financial institutions, and the broader digital economy, affecting both national economic stability and the integrity of financial markets.
