General Atomics Aeronautical Systems has been selected to head Project GOTHAAM, a $5.5 million collaborative initiative supported by America Makes and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM).
The primary objective of this project is to qualify high-strength aluminum alloys, specifically Scalmalloy, for use in defense production. The initiative aims to validate these materials across various Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) machine platforms, potentially expanding the manufacturing capabilities available for defense applications.
