Artificial intelligence firm Meshy has released a new software capability called Meshy Edit, designed to streamline 3D model preparation. The tool allows users to isolate and modify specific regions of a 3D model using text prompts, rather than requiring the regeneration or extensive manual adjustment of the entire object.
To use the feature, designers mark the specific area they wish to alter and provide a description of the desired changes. The system then applies the requested edits to the selected region while keeping the rest of the model's geometry unchanged. This workflow is intended to simplify the file preparation process, allowing users to send modified models directly to slicer software for production.
The launch was announced as part of the preparations for the upcoming AMA: Software 2026 event, which focuses on evolving digital workflows.
