Carbon reaches one million units in 3D printed bicycle saddle production

Manufacturing technology firm Carbon has announced that it has successfully produced more than one million cycling saddles using its additive manufacturing platform. This milestone, which highlights the scaling of lattice-based 3D printing for consumer goods, was confirmed by the company on October 21, 2026.

Carbon currently maintains partnerships with 11 distinct saddle brands across the globe. Through these collaborations, the company has integrated its proprietary additive technology into the manufacturing of more than 60 different saddle models. The announcement coincides with the lead-up to the Formnext 2026 industry event held in Frankfurt, where the company is expected to further showcase its manufacturing capabilities.

The production of one million units serves as an indicator of the shift toward utilizing 3D printing for mass-market production cycles rather than exclusively for rapid prototyping or small-batch manufacturing. By leveraging lattice structures, Carbon enables the design of complex geometries that are traditionally difficult or impossible to manufacture through standard injection molding processes.
